Fizz is the studio in Localoy, and VertX is its video editor. Fizz makes the video: motion graphics, characters in 3D, a voiceover with captions, music, and your own clips and pictures. VertX shows it beside the chat, where you can change any part yourself and save the finished file. Everything is made and saved on your computer.
Ask for the video
- Start a chat with Fizz. Say what the video is for, how long it should be and where it goes: a 30-second reel, a one-minute launch film, a podcast episode. Attach your clips, logo or a character’s
.glbfile if you have them; Fizz uses an attached 3D file as it is. - Plan it. In Plan mode Fizz writes the script and the shot list and asks what it needs. Open VertX Editor from the chat’s ⋮ menu to watch it come together.
- Switch to Auto and tell it to go ahead. Scenes appear in VertX as they are made.
New pictures, moving shots, voices and music are made on your Localoy credit, and Fizz tells you the price before it makes anything paid. Motion graphics, the 3D characters, editing and saving cost nothing extra.
What you see
- The top bar: the project’s name, then Undo, Redo, Help, the settings (the gear) and Save video, which opens the window for saving.
- The picture. When you stop on a moment you see that exact frame, as it will be in the saved video.
- The play bar, with a small mark wherever one scene changes to the next, and the time:
0:19 of 0:59. - The rows: Scenes, On top (pictures laid over the scenes, like a logo), Words, Voice, Music and Sounds. Pieces that overlap get their own line, so every piece can be reached. The orange line is where you are.
- The settings for whatever you selected, beside the rows on a computer and in the bottom bar on a touch screen.
- Make room where you need it. Drag the bar under the video up or down to give the video or the rows more space, and drag the edge of the settings panel to make it wider or narrower. VertX remembers your sizes; double-click a divider to put it back.
Playing while you edit
You never have to render to watch your changes. A moment after each change, VertX makes a quick, lower-resolution preview of the whole video in the background; “Updating the preview…” shows on the picture while it works. Press Play and it plays the preview. If you press Play before it is ready, it starts playing as soon as it is. The full-quality file is made only when you press Save video.
Scenes
- Length: Shorter and Longer change it by half a second, or drag its yellow right edge. The scenes after it move along, so nothing overlaps and no gap opens. A video clip made longer than its footage holds its last frame.
- Speed (video clips): slower, normal or faster. Slower makes the scene longer, and the rest moves to fit.
- Camera (still pictures): a slow zoom in or out, a pan left or right, or still.
- Comes in with: how the scene starts after the one before. A straight cut, a fade, a slide or a zoom.
- Order: drag a scene to a new place, or use Earlier and Later. Duplicate copies it right after itself. Split at the line cuts it in two at the orange line.
- Its own sound (clips with sound): on or off.
- Replace with a file swaps the picture for a clip or picture from the chat’s files, in the same place. Ask Fizz to redo it makes a new one from your words.
- Remove this scene: the scenes after it move up.
Words on screen
- Select the words on the Words row and type new ones. Enter keeps them.
- Place: top, middle or bottom. Bottom suits captions, the middle suits a title.
- Look: in a box (best over a busy picture), plain, or outlined.
- Move them along the row to change when they show; drag a yellow edge, or use Length, to show them longer or shorter. Start here moves them to the line.
Voice, music and sounds
- Move a piece along its row; it snaps to scene changes and to the line. Or put the line where it should start and press Start here.
- Drag a yellow edge to trim the start or the end. Split at the line cuts it in two.
- Volume: quiet, normal or loud. Music dips by itself whenever the voice speaks.
- Fade (music and sounds): a soft start, a soft end, or both.
- Ask for other music sends Fizz the music with your request.
Adding
Add words, music, a sound, a clip or picture, or a voice. It goes in at the orange line. A clip or picture goes into the scenes, and the scenes after it make room; words, music and sounds start at the line. VertX offers the files already in the chat’s folder: to use one from elsewhere on your computer, attach it to the chat first.
With a mouse, a trackpad or a touch screen
VertX works the same everywhere, but each device gets the moves that suit it. On a touch screen, or in a pane as narrow as a phone, the orange line stays in the middle and you slide the video under it.
With a mouse
- Move along the video: scroll the wheel over the rows, or click the play bar. Zoom: hold ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows) and scroll, or use the zoom buttons; the square button shows the whole video again.
- Select: click a piece. Move words or a sound, or reorder a scene: drag it.
- Change length: point at a piece and drag its yellow edge.
- More: right-click a piece for Ask Fizz, Split, Duplicate, Start here and Remove.
- Keys: Space plays, ← and → step one frame (with Shift, one second), S splits, ⌘D duplicates a scene, ⌫ removes, ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z undo and redo, + and − zoom, Esc lets go.
With a trackpad
- Move along the video: swipe sideways with two fingers over the rows. Zoom: pinch.
- Select: click. Move or reorder: click and drag. Change length: drag the yellow edge.
- More: click with two fingers (or hold Control and click) on a piece.
- The same keys as with a mouse.
On a touch screen
- The orange line stays in the middle. Swipe the rows to slide the video under it; what is under the line is what you see. Pinch to zoom.
- Tap a piece to select it. To move it or reorder a scene, hold it for a moment until it lifts, then drag. A plain swipe never moves anything.
- Change length: drag the big yellow handle on the selected piece, or use Length.
- The bottom bar shows what you can do with what you selected; settings slide up in a sheet that explains them. Done lets go. Undo and Redo are the arrows at the top.
Work on it with Fizz
- Select anything and type what to change under Ask Fizz, or pick one of the suggestions. The whole piece goes with your message, so “start the music after the hello” is enough. With nothing selected, the scene at the line goes with it.
- You and Fizz edit the same project. Everything you change by hand is told to Fizz with your next message, in plain words, and Fizz keeps your changes instead of putting back what it had.
- Undo and Redo work for your changes and Fizz’s.
Save the video
- Press Save video at the top right. A window opens over the editor; close it with ✕ or Esc.
- Pick one or more shapes: Wide 16:9 (YouTube, your site), Tall 9:16 (Reels, TikTok, Shorts, stories) or Square 1:1 (feed posts, LinkedIn). Each is saved as its own MP4, cut to fit.
- Words in the picture keeps captions and titles drawn on the video. A captions file too also saves an
.srtbeside it, for sites that show their own captions. End card as the cover puts the last frame first for a moment, so it is the still people see before they press play. - The files go into a
videosfolder in the chat’s folder, at full quality, made on your computer. Nothing is uploaded. Your project stays beside them, so you can change one line next week and save again.
The full timeline
For every track, trimming both ends of any clip and frame-exact keys, open VertX’s settings (the gear) and turn on Advanced timeline. The voice and music models Fizz uses are there too.
